Samahang Magdalo sought audience with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) last month to forge ties with its National Greening Program.
The National Greening Program (NGP) is about the rehabilitation program of the government on areas that has been ravaged by intense illegal logging and such other areas that need tree planting for purposes of restoring ecological balance.
As initially agreed with DENR, the Samahang Magdalo (SM) will submit the list of its chapters in various areas of the country. From that list DENR will select its preferred areas where they would allocate seedlings for planting.
The agreement initially forged by SM and DENR is strongly supported by Magdalo Para sa Pagbabago Movement (MPPM) whose President is also present during the meeting on the last week of August 2013.
As of the moment many chapters of Samahang Magdalo in the provinces had engaged itself on tree planting programs as part of its activities. In the National Capital Region (NCR) the Samahang Magdalo Taguig City Chapter had been allocated an area by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Taguig City. Tree seedlings were planted and the same is being protected by its members.
